Where I go to church, there is a family with two boys who have autism. I think everyone is understanding when there is an episode. I have never seen them escorted out.

I coordinate a special needs ministry program at my church, and I speak about it at conferences and write about it on my blog (The Works of God Displayed)… and I’ve found that the churches who are more inclusive of kids in general in worship are also more inclusive of people with disabilities of all ages. There’s definitely a relationship.

I am so, so, so sorry about that awful experience at the first church. That is not what church is meant to be. I’m so glad you tried again and found another place that welcomed your ENTIRE family.
